Does anyone know how to enter physical % complete at the assignment
(resource) level instead of the task level?

You cannot and are limited to entering the value at the task level only.
Sorry.

Dale,
Can Microsoft project server be customized to expand the "out of the
box" capability, so that we can enter physical % complete at the
assignment/resource level?

We have tasks that have multiple resources assigned, whereby one
resource may be 100% complete with their effort, and another may only
be 80% complete (such as in the case of a circuit card fabrication has
mechanical and electrical assemblers).

In order to develop accurate resource/manpower planning, and refine
earned value calculations we need to figure out a way of accomodating
entry at the resource level and are open to customization of our server
if this is possible.

A second question...can the web access be customized whereby
individuals can enter physical % complete instead of time entry?

We have a separate time entry system (Impressa) that we use as our main
frame computer system. We have developed macros for exporting actual
costs from Impressa into MS Project, which we run on a weekly basis.
We do not use the time entry feature of MS Project server.
Unfortunately, we are using the physical % complete field, to calculate
true earned value (rather than actual cost incurred). We have been
told that in order to enter physical % complete, each person needs to
have a copy or license of MS Project Professional. Isn't there a way
of adding capability or further customizing the Web Access for this?

I know of no way in either Microsoft Project or Project Server to allow the
entry of Physical % Complete at the assignment level. If anyone has an idea
about how to develop a custom solution for this, I welcome their response to
your message. Hope this helps.
