Resource Availability - Completed Projects

D

Dean Beckley

When I View Resource Availability in PSA with the view Assignment Work by
project, I see completed projects in the legend and the detail. Also, it's
odd that the projects that show up in the Legend and Detail portions of the
page show projects that are outside the timescale I'm viewing on the bar
graph.

I want completed projects off this list. I can't figure out how to edit the
Assignment Work by project view as it doesn't show up in Admin | Manage Views.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks,
Dean

May or may not relate, but I have seen this unexpected behavior occur in this
view when the box is checked (or maybe unchecked? I can't remember) to
include Proposed bookings.

I'd like to see if the Proposed booking is checked, but I cannot get access
to the view. Do you know how to edit the "Assignment Work by project" view?

Thanks,
Dean

Just click the View Options tab when you are looking at the Resource
Availability graph. If you are not using Proposed Bookings, this is probably
not the cause of your trouble.

Reid,

Right. No change when toggling the proposed bookings box. Do you have any
idea how to edit the view?

Thanks,
Dean

Nope. It would be nice.

But back to your problem of seeing "Completed" projects, are you sure those
projects are statused correctly and that they truly have no assigned work in
the time period you are looking at?

Reid,

Right. If I can figure out what combination of settings on the Project Pro
side would make it not show up in this view, that would work as well.

I have a year's worth of projects that show up in this view, whether they
have 100% complete or not, and regardless of the start/finish date of the
project. The project I've been looking at has all tasks at 100%.

What combination of settings should make a project not show up in the
Assignment Work by project view?

Thanks,
Dean

Reid,

Remaining Work field shows zero hours for all tasks, including project
summary task.

Dale,

Thanks for responding. I read through the document and changing the Booking
value of the Resource to Proposed dropped the project from the Assignment
Work by project view.

This appears to solve my problem, but it's an odd solution. I need to
recommend the solution to a client and honestly am a little uncomfortable
with the "kludge" factor in having to change the booking type on each
Resource to get it to stop showing up. Do you know how I might be able to
edit the Assignment Work by project view?

Thanks,
Dean

Dean --

There is no way to edit the four views you see when you click the View
Availability button in the Resource Center. Sorry.

Perhaps you could create a web page that uses the
ProjectSetResourcesBookingType method of the PDS? You could enter the
project name and call have the PDS set the booking type for all
resources in the project.

I'm not sure if this is a solution for you, but I export the grid to Excel
and turn on Auto filter. Prior to turning on the filter I delete columns
because I do this for the current week's projection. Then i choose the drop
down above hours, choose custom. In the dialog box I choose does not equal
0h. Then I have a list for the current assignments.
