Resource Calendar conflict - Project Server 2007

We created some resources with a working calendar of Mon - Thu, 10 hours a
day, where the other resources have a standard work week of Mon - Fri, 8
hours a day. When we assign a nonstandard resource and a standard resource to
the same task (a fixed duration, not effort driven task) it adjusts the
duration to accomodate the nonstandard resources schedule. For example, a 1
week task has the same dates (Mon - Fri) but it is the duration says it's 1.2
weeks (assuming that a week is Mon - Thur). When we assign just the
nonstandard resource to a task, it adjusts the dates to four days, and
duration remains the same at 1 week. Is this supposed to happen?

Hi Rachel,

Yes, a resource's calendar will control a task unless you select the option
to ignore resource calendars. (Task Information > Advanced tab >
"Scheduling ignores resource calendars")

It has to show one duration or the other since the task duration is really a
summary of its assignments. It shows the max duration I believe in your
case.
