Resource Center / Users

Elsa L.

Hi,
I am using PS2007, I created my RBS and went to the Resources Center and I
creates some ressources using the Entreprise Resources project. Then I went
to the Server Settings -> Manage Users and I was expecting to see the
resources I created there, but they don't appear in the list... Did I do
anything in the wrong order?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

only when you also fill in the Windows-Logon the resources will also be a
user.

You can also enable the checkbox in the edit resource details from the
Resource Center that states: Resource can logon to Project Server.

When you enable this checkbox, it adds a section on the form to enter the
users authentication (Windows or Forms Authentication). Once you have
enabled this and provided the appropriate authentication you will see the
account in the Manage Users section of Server Settings.

FYI, once your list of users exceeds a certain number (not sure what that
number is, maybe 100) then you will not see a list of users in Manage Users.
It will appear as though there are no users. You simply have to do a
partial text string search to find specific users. The search will look in
the name and email field for matches on your partial text.

Thanks Jonathan for the information on how the the user list is not visible
once the list exceeds 100. Microsoft told us that this was "by design" but
it happened only in the Resource Center page, when the list exceed a few
thousand.

I was also wondering if you have seen this behavior only while synchronizing
with AD or does it happen even when you enter the names manually or use
stsadm to add users.

Thanks
Dave

I was not aware of a limitation in the Resource Center with a few thousand,
I was only aware of the behaviour in the Manage Users page with over ~100
users. The latter I have seen happen when manually creating the users but I
also imagine it happens regardless of how you add the users. It is a
function of the number of users and not the source of their creation.
