Resource Cost Rates

Is there a way to create multiple cost rates for an individual resource when
using the global resource pool on project server? It seems like you can
create them from the cost rate table in an indivual mpp file but that the
different rates don't save to the server as it get's overwritten by the
enterprise template.

For example:

Resource A:
Cost: $100
Cost: $200
Cost: $300

Thank you!

This works the same way on server as it does in an mpp. In order to make
these changes, you must have the resource checked out from the Enterprise
resource pool.

Thanks for the response but are you sure that different costs rates can be
used for the same resource simultaneously on either 2 different projects or
on the same one? I understand that the different cost rates can be entered
in the resource info box and saved when the resource is checked out.
However, I don't see how it is possible to apply a rate of $150 / hr to John
Smith on Project A and a rate of $200 / hr for John Smith on project B. If
this is possible, it would be a big help. Any possiblity you can provide a
little more "how to" info? I don't see it.

Thanks!

Scott: That takes some manual work. Like I said, it works the same way as
stand-alone.

Hi Gary, thanks for these replies and your on-going help on this site!!

I had asked this question earlier and didn't get a reply. In addition I had
the following part of question.

Can you update a resources effective rate and date in the Project Server
database?

We have about 1500 resources which will grow soon. The number of changes to
the rates could give an admin a full time job, which would make Project
Server unusable for us. I have a view from an accounting database which
gives me the daily rate change list. I want to update Project Server
resources directly using a query/stored procedure. I don't see a way to do
that.

Jeff:

You're asking a developer question however this isn't the developer group. I
don't know the answer off the top of my head. Can this be automated? I
believe it can. However, like other data in the system, it may require using
the API. Post this question at microsoft.public.project.developer and be
patient as many of the folks who provide answers in the NGs are at the
Project Conference in Seattle this week.
