Resource Group for Enterprise Resource

I have a project with over 100 resources assigned. I n the resource sheet I
have created 8 resource groups - one for each of the functional managers and
distributed all the individual contributors among these 8 functional manager
resource groups.

We have now moved this stand-alone schedule to the Enterprise server and all
these resource group assignments have been erased (i.e. the only resource
group assignments that stayed were for non-enterprise pool type (local)
resources. I can assign the resource groups again, but it is only active
during the session and the edits are gone next time I open the schedule.

We cannot make these resource group assignments permanent on the server
since these resources are used on multiple projects where the functional
manager responsibility differs!

Is there any way how I can have a permanent grouping function for resources
that are unique to each project?

Thanks

Swissman:

As you have learned, you can't change Enterprise Resource data without
opening the Enterprise Resource Pool. This isn't really what you want to do
because you state that the data doesn't belong to the resource, as it's
unique to a combination of resource and project. The point at where
resources intersect with projects is at the assignment level. Therefore, you
should use a local custom task field and set these values at the assignment
level in the resource usage view or in the task usage view which both
display assignment-level information.
