Resource Initials in Custom View

J

jch

I created a new Project View and added "Resource Initials" to the Displayed
fields list. However, the field is not actually displayed when I apply the
view. I have tried both the fixed field width and the "automatically fit
this field to width" options (neither work). I have tried adding Resource
Names instead (this does work, except that isn't what I want). I have
ensured that all my resources have initials entered. I have tried changing
the position of the field both up and down (no effect). When the view is
applied, I don't see the Resource Initials column at all.

I cannot confirm your problem. I created a custom detailed Project view
that is a copy of the Tasks Summary view and then added the Resource
Initials field to the View. After applying the custom View, the Resource
Initials field is visible. Perhaps you can give us more details about your
situation, including what version of Project Server you are using (include
SP#) and the name of the View to which you attempted to add the field. Let
us know.

Thanks Dale. Here are some additional details about my situation. I am
using Project Server 2007, which I connect to through Office Project Web
Access. I go to "Server Settings", and select "Manage Views" under the Look
and Feel section. On the Manage Views page, I click "New View" and create a
"Project" View Type. In my case, I named it "Executive View". In addition
to [Task Name], [Start], and [Finish], I added the following fields to the
"Displayed fields:" list: [ID], [Priority], [Resource Names], [Resource
Initials], [% Complete], [Duration], [Actual Work], [Fixed Cost], [Actual
Cost] and [Hyperlink]. Then I go back to the Project Center, select my
project, then pick "Executive View" from the View drop-down list. All of the
fields show up in the Project Details table, in the expected order, except
"Resource Initials"

I also made a copy of the Tasks Summary view (called Tasks Summary Copy) and
added the Resource Initials to the view. I was not able to see the Resource
Initials column in that view either. All my resources are visible in the
Enterprise Resource Pool, all are "Work" type resources, and all can logon to
Project Server (with varying permission levels). All have an E-mail address
and Initials entered as well.

Thanks for the help.

I have confirmed the same behavior as you in Project Server 2007. I added
the Resource Initals column to a detailed Project view but cannot see the
column when I apply the View. This is still more of the "rough around the
edges" behavior I am seeing in pre-SP1 Project Server 2007. Sorry.

Dave,

Is this considered a bug?

My name is Dale, not Dave. And yes, I suspect it is a bug. One of many, in
fact. Hope this helps.
