Resource is busy...

Hi!,

We have our employees configured as "resources" and when i add let's say
"Sander" to a task that will take all day.
And then add another task and give it to sander on the same day for 1 hour,
I want to get a message saying that "Sander" is busy during the whole day.

Is this possible ? or am i doing something wrong ?

Thanks in advance for your answer! :)

Overallocation occurs whenever the resource is double booked for even 1
minute. In your case you're saying Sander will spend 8 hours on Task A and
1 hour on Task B, doing a total of 9 hours of work in a single 8-hour day.
Can't be done. You can either resource level, pushing part of the work into
the next day or you can reduce the work on Task A to 7 hours and make sure
the tasks are in sequence (select a date display format that includes the
time to see it).

As an aside you can even have someone who works an 8-hour day booked for
only two 1-hour tasks on a given day and still find he's overallocated. If
task A is 8am to 9am and task B is also from 8am to 9am, he's overallocated
because he's double booked for that one hour. Resource leveling on an
hour-by-hour basis will resolve it by pushing one of the tasks to run
between 9am and 10am.
