Resource joining in the middle of a task

I have the schedule as below in Project 2007:

Task1 - Res1 (100%) - 21 days (duration)
Task2 - Res2 (100%) - 45 days (duration)

Both have same start dates. After task 1 is complete, Res1 will join task2
as 100%.

How do I make this type of allocation? If I add Res1 to Task2 and allocate
100% and level, the duration for task2 is not reducing considerably as
expected. It is changing to 43.5 days only.

Hi,

The easiest way to handle this is under the Resource Usage View. Edit the
Work row so there is no overlap.
