Resource Kit discontinued

From the web site: "Microsoft® Office Visio® 2003 Resource Kit for IT
Professionals will be discontinued as of September 31, 2006." I've heard
second hand that there is a beta of a replacement discovery tool. Can
anybody confirm this, and give info on the new tool?

I read something about a "replcement" tool on another group (not sure which
one...) but they had almost no info on it. I'd also like to know more about
it or other tools that would get the job done. If necessary I van get the
resource kit but I'd like to check out my options.

LanSurveyor can't really be the only high quality lan discovery/mapping tool
on the market can it?
