Resource Kit for IT Professionals

Has anybody used the Visio Resource Kit for IT Professionals? How as it? Any
caveats? What kind of information does it provide? Net mask? Default gateway?
What type of equipment it found? What kind of interfaces there are on the
equipment it found? Is there a trail period for the kit – or simply the
Rackwise? Is Rackwise fully functional during the trial period – can I use it
for drawings and reports? Are either of these tools suitable tool for
discovering and documenting components in a combined analogue and digital TV
cable network?

My opinion is that the tools can help but some caveats :
The rackwise is webbased so if you are not connected you cannot use it.
Projects are hosted on the website of r ackwise so it not so
confidential.
It is not so user friendly.

The discovering network solution can help for simple discovering. You
can look at another very powerful tools

Actually Rackwise has just introduced a new version of their product,
Enterprise Edition. It runs as an application on your site and therefore is
secure. It is more expensive, but comes bundled with 5 user licenses. It
still connects to the Internet, but only for Live Updates of the Visio
stencils to support new devices as they become available. The application
can be configured to only update when manually requested.
