I have been using project professional 2003 resource leveling with no
problem, however when i connect to project server 2003 the leveling produces
a strange behavior as follows:
1. it levels resources across a strange time line that it assigns resources
with leveling delay of over 14 days and changes everytime i level. meaning
that a resource is assigned 20 hours in a task and 20 in another task, it
levels by leaving 5 or maybe more days empty with no task assigned. sometimes
it would do strange things like leaving 10 days or maybe 20 or maybe 5 with
no base for that kind of leveling although this resource is only assigned to
this project. I made sure that this resource is available and not assigned in
any other project. I tried doing so in project professional and it works
fine, however it starts getting this behavior when i connect to project
server 2003 and publishing the plan.
I suspect there maybe a setting in the global enterprise template that
produces this behavior, however i am not able to find out why.
2. I tried using all type of task types like Fixed Work, Fixed Units and
Fixed Duration and all produce the same result as above.
3. Automatic leveling is disabled
4. I did not check any of the leveling check boxes, and tried all possible
combinations but still the same strange behavior persists.
Can anyone please help in this issue.
