resource list: Commas are being replaced by semi-colons - urgent h

I have several resources allocated to a list of tasks, each resource has
either been entered in Task information / resources sheet on a different
line, or were entered in Gannt chart view, using drop-down list with commas
to separate. e.g. David Jones, Susan Smith
This has worked fine for approx. 3 months. Now when I open Project all the
spaces in between names e.g. David Jones, have been replaced with David;Jones.
When I remove the ; I am unable to repalce with a <space>, as I am told that
I cannot have brackets [].

then the words separate so that David beomces resource 1, then Jones becomes
resource 2.

The List separator : "," or ";"... is defined at the Windows level :

Start / Settings / Control Panel / Local settings / Numbers...
