Resource Loading.

Hi,
I have the following doubts regarding the above Subject.

1.I was trying to do resource loading for about 200 activties under the same Summary bar and with same units for all .But when i select all the activities and key in resource name and the units , its calculating the wrong hours and also the durations get changed.

2.If i have multiple resources for the activities , how can import an excel spread sheet with all the values.

3.The Work hrs does not change after the changing the units..
for ex:pipe fitter - 4.00 units - 4 days - 7.5 hrs -120 hrs
when i change the units the hrs does'nt change from 120 hrs...

Please advise

Thanks in advance

Hello Shekkar,
Be aaware of the equation that MS Project will want to balance :
Duration x Resources units = Load of work

It's very hard to know what's happening without more details from you. For
example, you say when you add the resources it's calculating the "wrong
hours." What durations are you starting with, how many resources are you
adding, are you adding the resources all at once or one at a time to each
task, what screen are you using to add the resources, what hours is it
calculating, and what hours do you think it SHOULD be calculating? We might
be able to help better if you give that level of detail about the problem
but as it is we can't tell if Project really is calculating incorrectly for
you or if your expectations for it are in error.

What exactly are you trying to import from the Excel spreadsheet - what
"values" are you referring to?

Your third problem is exactly what Project is designed to do by default.
When you assign a resource it calculates the work for the task by
multiplying effort * duration. When you revise the effort, it assumes the
task is "fixed work" and recalculates the duration. If you want it to
recalculate the work instead, you need to inform it so by marking the task
"fixed duration" in the task type setting before changing the resource.
Those three settings, "fixed work," "fixed effort," "fixed duration" are
there to allow you to control the way Project behaves when you edit one of
the three assignment parameters.
