Resource Manager - Time Sheet Approval

R

Rami

Hi

As you know, the resource manager can modify the time sheet of a resource.

Is there a way to enable the resource manager to approve the time sheet,
which in turn will go for project manager approval?

I believe the current workflow is Member-->Project manager but can we make
it Member-->Resource Manager-->Project Manager

Best Regards
Mohammad

You must enable the Managed Time Periods feature, which includes the
Timesheet Approval feauture. The default Timesheet Approval process will
match your workflow. Hope this helps.

Dale,

I am running into the exact same problem. I have all of the RBS's setup
correctly, security setup with the correct options set for the RM group, but
I still cannot get my resource managers to recieve an email when their
resource makes a change to their time sheets. The PM gets the email and on
the RM's home page the time sheet approval is there, but it won't notify them
by email if they are not the manager of the plan. Any ideas?

Thanks

Perhaps I am mistaken about this, but I have always assumed that the
notification e-mails are only sent to the PM and not to the RM. If I am
wrong, I would be glad for someone to correct me.

So you are thinking that the approval process for the RM's only works on the
home page? I thought I read somewhere that the first the RM get the email,
then they approve, then the PM's get an email for approval. Although I could
be thinking of another tool.

thanks

I believe that the task update notification e-mails go directly to the PM
and bypass the RM entirely. This may be because the PM is not absolutely
required to wait until the RM approves the updates before the PM can update
the progress into the Microsoft Project plan. In fact, if the PM chooses to
bypass the RM, he/she can update the progress directly into the Microsoft
Project plan without the RM doing the timesheet approval first. Does that
make sense? Let me know.

Dale,

Yes it does make sense; however, this is not the process we were hoping to
use. We wanted to make the RM solely responsible for approval of the
resources timesheets, then the PM can be notified to update the project plan.
I found this morning that the only way we get the correct information off the
database is when the PM does an actual Update of the project plan. We are
then able to extract the actual hours based on the Update field of the task.
The Aprove function does not update a table with the date that the actual
hours were actually entered, so we cannot extract based off the approval
function.

Thanks again for your help.
