Resource Names

I am trying to Assign resource names in a specific order for tasks in
Microsoft Project (2003 and 2007). I know what order I want them in, but
when I leave the Resource Name column the names fall into any order ( and not
the order I want them in). Please advise

Hello Ron!

Maybe you can use the "sort" option to renumber the resources (change ID
number). Do this through the menu: Project/Sort by...

On the Sort by dialog box, make sure you activate the "Permanently renumber
resources" check-box.

Hi Ron,

Hmmmm. Using Project 2003 (SP-3) as well as Project 2007 (SP-2) I
see the assigned resources names appearing in the order they are
assigned. Using both the Task Form and also assigning using the
Resource Name field in the Gantt chart, they appear to stay in the
order assigned.

Can you give a bit more information -- what service packs do you
have applied? Perhaps I am misunderstanding your issue. The Assign
Resources dialog box used to assign resources show them in
alphabetic order.
