Resource Plans - still flaky

I have not used Resource Plans for some time. I have always found them
a bit flaky. I just revisited them with the October hot fix, and this
still seems to be the case. Whenever you incorporate a generic
resource in my environment the resource plan errors on save. This
seems to be because I choose to set max units value for generic
resource to 0%. I suspect it's provoked by trying to do FTE
calculations which it does not do very well. Am I the only one to
experience this problem?

Hi Mike,

Why would you want to create a generic resource with no people? I don't follow your logic, and neither, it appears, does Project!

Hi Mike

A generic resource either has infinite capacity or no capacity (max
units =100% is arbitrary). I prefer the latter. It avoids inflating
availability data when you aggregate named and generics together
(reviewing demand by role for example).

That aside Resource Plans should handle it better.

Mike:

You may be happy to know that Generics do not affect availability in 2010,
only demand. I hope that helps you get ready for version next.
