Resource Pool (250 Sharing Links with new SQL server name)

I need assistance with my new Resource Pool.

I have approx. 250 Shared links in a Resouce Pool that should now point to a
new SQL server name. So far, I've broken all links by opening my Resource
Pool and using Tools, Resource Sharing, Share Resources and selecting all
projects and I used the "Break Link" option.

Now I need to re-create all 250 links by opening each individual Project and
use Tools, Resource Sharing, Share Resources and choose "use own resources'
and then choose the new Resource Pool from the drop down menu...for EVERY
project!

There must be a faster way to re-create all links when changing servers,
right? Is there a utility or script available to make life easier?

btw, I'm running MS Project 2k3 (Standard edition), with an SQL 2000 database.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello ABW,
IMHO, as you already have SQL Server, you just need to jump a small step
while upgrading to Project Server
with all its powerful features, especially for resource sharing...

We only use Project for 3-5 users, so I'm not sure if I have the option of
purchasing Project Server. Is Project 2003 Standard (stand-alone edition)
limited? Is Project Server the only way to make these changes more
efficiently?

Hi,

You need a VBA macro to do this. I have a macro that builds resource pools
from all .mpp files in a folder, but it wouldn't take much to change that to
look at all schedules in a database. Email me if interested.

Hi Rod,

Yes, please send me the macro. Any instructions you can provide would be
great.
