Resource Pool and Resource Usage View problems

I have a question regarding creation of resource pools.
I am using MSP2002 Std.
I have some 30 projects inserted in a master project, all
sharing a common resource pool using Tools, Share Resouce
Pool.
On viewing the resource allocations and inserting a column
for Project in the Resource Usage view, I find full path
entries for resources/tasks for a number of old versions
of projects, (indicating sub-project not open)including
deleted files and old names of files that I have renamed
to current inserted projects in the master file.
This obviously distorts the total resource allocation
picture.
I have deleted/moved the old files and set them to use
their own resources, and then re-created the master file.
Still the unwanted entries appear in the Res Usage view.
I have re-created the problem with a small test file. It
appears that short of deleting the ResPool file, I can't
correct this problem, and that would result in massive re-
work in re- resourcing each project.
I think I must be doing something basically wrong here.
I think perhaps is related to the way I save the resource
file as I am working with the project files, but don't
know.
Would appreciate any advice/input.

Acually found the answer myself.
Open the Resource Pool file and edit the sharing files
list - Tools, Resource Sharing, Share Resources and "break
links" for those files not now required.
A good test to see that your master project is
"clean" in this regard is to open the master file, ensure
all sub-projects are "active", and then view Resource
Usage screen with an inserted column for Project. Any
resource allocation with a "full directory" path listed is
probably from an old file or version, and requires
the "link" to be broken, thus ensuring the currency of your
master plan resource view.

.MS Project deletes the projects that share resources
only from the resource pool directly, if the resource pool
is opened when you set the project to use its own
resources. If notthe resource pool is not "open" the old
information is retained. But it can be deleted in the
resource pool by marking the unwanted project and then
tick "break link".
