There's no automatic way to back up and restore the Enterprise Resource Pool
in Project Server 2003, which is what I assume you are using. You can use a
laborious manual method for doing so, however. To use this method, you must
open a new blank project and then use the Build Team dialog to add every
resource in the Enterprise Resource Pool to your project. You must then
create a local custom field and/or outline code that precisely matches EVERY
custom enterprise field or outline code used in your system. Then you save
your project as an .mpp file locally and close it. Reopen the project and
apply the Resource Sheet view. Insert every local custom field and/or
outline code and every custom enterprise field and/or outline code. You can
use copy and paste to copy the values from each enterprise field/outline
code to its corresponding local custom field/outline code. After doing
this, you can remove the custom enterprise fields and outline codes, and
save your .mpp file locally as your backup. It's a lot of work, believe me.
We detail these steps in our Administering an Enterprise PMO Using Microsoft
Office Project Server 2003 in the Importing Resources section of the book.
Hope this helps.
