Resource Pool Gantt Chart

Jim

Does anyone know how to make a Gantt chart from a resource
pool file? I have multiple project files all sharing the
same resorce pool file and I want to go beyond the
standard resource usage sheet to create a gantt chart to
track time allocated to each resource. Any ideas? Thanx.

The Gantt Chart is for showing tasks and dates (start, duration, end)
for each task on a calendar bar chart. The Gantt Chart doesn't display
resources since there are not dates associated with resources.

Can you explain exactly what you are looking for. Perhaps a Gantt chart
of tasks for individual resources, e.g. a filtered tasks list (by
resource) for all projects? To do this, in your master project where
you consolidate all projects, make a filtered list of tasks and display
the Gantt. Or is this not what you are looking for?

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Rob -

Thanx for the reply.

What you described is what I'm trying to accomplish...a
filtered list of tasks sorted by resource. The problem I
have (and it's of my own making) is that I don't have a
single master project but a series of master projects,
each having 5 to 20 linked sub-project plans. I haven't
tried making a master of all the masters but I'll give
that a shot.

See any other way? Thanx.

Jim,

You should be able to include masters into a "super" master. Then you
can filter by resource. You won't be able "sort" by resource, because
the Gantt chart is a listing of tasks, not resources.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Hi Jim,

don't worry about existing masters. Masters are just a view, they do not
intervene in any calculation.
Simply open the pool with the third option (pools and sharers) and you have
your master
