Resource Pool not in sync with project files

Andy Novak

I do not user Project Server, but *.mpps files along with a Resource
Pool File. Somehow, some of the project files I have deleted in the
past are still "hooked" into the Resource Pool and it can't reconcile.
How do I remove the "hooks" in the Resource Pool that point to
non-existent *.mpp files?

Thanks,

Please try these steps:

1. Click File - Open and select your resource pool file
2. In the Open Resource Pool dialog, the "Open resource pool read-write..."
option (the second choice)
3. Click OK
4. Click Tools - Resource Sharing - Share Resources
5. In the Share Resources dialog, select the project that you deleted
6. Click the Break Link button
7. Save the resource pool file

Hope this helps.

Thanks Dale. It worked! As a followup ?, one more thing that isn't
quite right...

When I open the resource pool in such a way that a new master project
is created automatically, it finds all the projects. However, on one
of them, although the project file is found (indicator says "This
inserted project is embedded from "\\...."), the Task Name (Project
Name) is BLANK. I know the project file exists (obviously because it
found the file). How can I fix that?

Thanks,
Andy

It sounds like that file is stored in a database somewhere, perhaps the SQL
Server database in your old Project Server implementation. What do you want
to do? Get rid of that file? Fill in the missing name? What? Let us
know.

Dale,

I want the missing name filled in when the master file is created dyamically.

I'm not using Project Server. Just mpps. The file is valid and in the directory.
Thanks!

Open the mysterious project from wherever it is located, then click File -
Properties. Enter a name for the project in the Title section, then click
OK and save the project. Hope this helps.
