Resource Pool Question

I am seeking advice on the best way to utilize a resource pool in MS Project
2003 standard. I have .mpp files in multiple folders on a shared drive. I
am familiar with the corruption issue with this version of project. My
question is: Would it make more since to open the files, attach them to the
RP, run my reports and close without saving the pool attachment? If so has
this process been automated? Where?

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

This can be automated using VBA. However, if you are only looking to report
on resources, I prefer each week:

Create a new, blank project
Insert all other projects into the new one, but make sure the Link option is
deselected

Inserting with no link copies all task and resource data but also
consolidates all resource data eliminating the need for a resource pool. The
new master schedule is also a great snapshot and backup of all files and
makes good reporting for multi-project reports.

Record a macro of you creating the master (make sure File, New is the first
recorded action) and you can run the macro each week to produce your report.

No risk of corruption.

Rod,

This sounds like exactly what I need. I will give this a try.
Thanks,
