Resource Pool Synch with AD

I am having problems getting Proj Serv 2003 to use AD synchronization
for creating the Enterprise Resource Pool. I have created an AD group
called "MCISProjectServer" < 100 AD users.

I can use this same AD group to synch the project server security
groups, but when I try to use this same AD group to create the
Enterprise Resource pool, it errors out. The errors that occur in the
application event log are the following:

Error #1 (LastName and FirstName were inserted as placeholders for the
actual resource name. This error repeats for each AD account that is
defined in the project server security groups)
Component: AD Connector
File: AutoADProcess
Line: -1
Description:
AD Res Pool Sync - PDS ADD Res
failed : LastName; FirstName

Error #2
Component: AD Connector
File: AutoADProcess
Line: -1
Description:
AD Res Pool Sync - failed to issue
the PDS Resource Add request

I know I have access to read the AD, since I can synch the Security
Groups with AD so I don't think there is a security issue. Also, I
can manually add resources to the ERP by using project professional.
Has anyone seen a similar problem? Is there a certain sequence I need
to use for creating the resource pool - i.e., set it up first and then
synch the security groups?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

This may or may not help. But in my limited experience I have had a
few issues with AD sync.
Firstly, there is an AD sync patch out for Project Server. KB835736.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;835736

This patch sorted out my issues, but I don't know if they are the same
you are having or not.

Secondly, I noted that whilst I could use domain\group nomenclature
for security group sync, I found what to use for ERP was fussy, and
that simply using the ERPDOmainGroup without the domain\ in front
worked. Not sure why and this may be peculiar to our system.

If this doesn't help - sorry I'm out of ideas.

Thanks for your suggestions. When I try to do the ERP synch with AD,
I have been using just the group name without the domain name.

Also, if we try to import the AD accounts by opening the ERP from
Project Professional and doing Add Resources From AD, the insert fails
saying their are invalid characters in the name field. Some AD
accounts are pulled over, but not all of them. The full name for AD
accounts is only pulled over when the name is listed a Firstname
LastName with not comma separator. I am not sure if this is related
to the issues with using PWA to synch the resource pool, but I suspect
that it is.

I forgot, we have already applied the hotfix mentioned above.

Is there anything in the eventlogs?? any clues in sys log or event log?
Enomagic
The only events I see show up in the application log and are included
in the original e-mail.
