Resource report in PWA analysis, both 2003 and 2007

The engineering manager wants to see resources vs projects for a month at a
time. My problem is that he wants to see ALL resources, even if the
individual has no hours assigned. I can show all resources by going to
Commands and Options and setting Always show empty rows. My problem comes
when I add a field to the rows for sorting or grouping the engineers. When I
do that, I see all groups on every resource row.

I think my question is: how can I show all resources assigned work vs all
active projects and sort/group the resources by discipline?

I have figured out a couple work-arounds, but they are very clunky and need
a lot of maintenance.

This reminds me of a similar problem I worked on a while back, at that time I
had the reverse problem, basically after creating a calculated field (either
directly in the OLAP view or in an MDX measure) the undesirable result was
that all resources were shown due to the fact that even those with empty work
values now had something due to the calculation performed (e.g. [Work]+1 or
something).

In your case that might work for you as a solution, although I'm not sure if
it would be any different when grouping?

Thanks for the idea. I'll report back if I get it to work. It is similar to
another work around I tried - an admin project with everybody in it and one
minute assignment. It worked, but maintenance was high.

Here's the report back:
What I realized is that Availability is the complement of Work. I added
Availability to the Data display and I get all resources in whatever filter I
choose. Not exactly the same thing, but your suggestion led me there.
Thanks

I would still like to be able to do it without a workaround, but results
count.
