resource scheduling & auto accept

Ted

I have inherited an Exchange 2003 server that is using resource calendars to
schedule conference rooms, projectors, etc... I have tried to mimic the
configuration of existing resources to create an additional resource but have
encountered a discrepancy. On an existing resource account, when it is
scheduled the scheduling user gets a messagebox stating that “The resources
for the meeting were successfully booked.†On a new account either of two
things can happen. 1) If I have run RegisterMailbox.vbs against the account
to enable auto-accept the scheduling user gets an email reply, not a
messagebox, that the resource has accepted the invitation, and both calendars
(the user and the resource) are updated.
2) If I have run RegisterMailbox.vbs against the account to disable
auto-accept (or have not run RegisterMailbox at all) the scheduling user gets
a messagebox that states (to the effect) that a recurring event can not be
scheduled, however the resource calendar is updated and the scheduling user’s
calendar is not. Plus the meeting scheduling window remains visible on the
scheduling user’s desktop.
What I would like to happen is for scheduled resource notification to be
done as with the existing accounts.

Any help would be appreciated.
