Resource Unique ID - sanity check

M

Mike Mahoney

I just attempted to add Unique ID field to a PWA resource center view,
and it is not there. I have an existing view which contains it, but I
am guessing this was built pre-SP1. I don't have a pre-SP1 system to
check against.

So my problem in a new instance is how to create a view with this
field. Am I going mad, or is Microsoft just having fun?

I assume we are using 2007, since you mention SP1, it is there, are you
trying to add to an existing view or building a new view. If existing, scroll
to the bottom of the Displayed fields list and make sure it is not already on
the existing view, just so far to the right you did not notice it.

Hi Sean

Unique ID is certainly on some (more than one) existing views, but is
not available (on the left hand side when creating a new view). Try
this for me. save a copy of a view containing this field. In the copy
remove unique id, save, reopen and try to add unique id back in. If
it works for you then I clearly have a few issues.

Absolutely, several fields were deprecated from 2003, like Last Saved By,
others are only available in certain views, and as you say, if I create a new
view or remove Unique ID from a view, I cannot get it back. We discussed this
with Microsoft and possibly P15 will bring back this flexibility, but the
current schema used for P12 and P14 will continue with this issue.

You have to copy a view that has it. You clearly have the lesser issues.

Thank Sean

Insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and hoping for different
result. I was getting there!
