Resource usage print date range

I feel like I'm losing my mind here...

I want to print the Resource Usage view for a 4 week time period. I'm in the
view, with a filter and group selected, I select File | Print and specify a
date range in the Timescale option. The range I'm entering is Monday 2/19/07
through Friday 3/23/07 and I choose Preview. I would expect the timescale to
end on the Friday I specified but it always include the next 3 days through
the following Monday. I've cleared out the filters and groups in the view and
went back to the default view and then instead of 3 extra days I get a total
of 6 weeks displayed though I haven't changed the timescale date range. Is
there a bug in this option? Or might I have some other date range specified
somewhere that overrides the print timescale option?

And how's this for even crazier. I just selected to Print and in Timescale,
the date range is still in there and I clicked on "Print left column of pages
only" and did a preview and it now has the correct timescale. Of course, with
that selection it should have timescale at all, right?

By the way, I'm in my resource pool file. Maybe it's due to the fact that I
have a number of linked files that it's pulling the wrong data? Who knows.

Claire,
No. you are not losing you mind, but we have taken control of your PC.
Up ahead, see the signpost, you are now in, the "Project" zone.......
ding, ding, ding, ding ......ding, ding, ding, ding......

OK, let's see if we can sort out the confusion. First of all, the
timescale setting in the Print window will not always do exactly what
you expect. You have discovered that and I know that from experience.
However, when I tried your scenario (no filters or grouping), when the
print timescale is set from 2/19/07 through 3/23/07, that is exactly
what shows in print preview. However, I have found that if you do not
get the timsecale result you set in the from and to the first time, try
it again. You should see the desired result the second time. And
remember, the print preview timescale also depends on the timescale
detail set in the parent view. For example, if the bottom tier of the
view timescale is set for weeks and you are expecting a print preview
detail in days, you probably won't get exactly what you want.

With regard to the option of printing only the left column, here is what
that means. If the date range you have set in print is longer than can
be shown on a single page, Project will shown multiple pages to the
right to pick up the remaining timescale. That options simply tells
Project to only show the first page. It does NOT mean that you will only
see the tabular data.

Hope this helps.
