I use resource usage view quite a lot.
I use it mostly with Summary Resource Assignments loaded.
I use it in order to validate the SQL reports and to get a 12 week
allocation view for all resources.
I have a couple of issues I am trying to work through.
First, the Work Values that I am pulling from the plans in some cases don't
match the values shown in the reports and/or the values in PWA Availability
and Resource Assignments. Sometimes Availability and Resource Assignments
don't match each other. That is not to say nothing matches alot does but the
quantity and variety of mismatches makes it hard to find a root cause.
Second, we had a plan that we have since replaced in order to solve the
following anomolous behavior... When Plan A and B are open Work for Resource
1 is X. Once you close Plan A the Work for Resource 1 balloons by the amount
of work scheduled in Plan A. It's almost as if there are phantom hours
floating around someplace that hide when the plan is open.
Third, we have a plan that is "Broadcasting" its Summary Resource
Assignments Baseline Work rather than Work. That is to say, the values
other plans see for lines labeled Work match the Baseline Work lines in the
"broadcasting plan." When the plan was baselined some resources were over
allocated. That has since been corrected and the plan has been republished.
But all the other plans still see the old values.
Then as an aside I really would like to be able to use this view to see
Actual Work & Baseline Work summaries for the plans that are not open.
