Resource View Availability

In the Resource Center, when I select a resource and select View
Availability, the total hours for a resource do not match the what I see in
View assignments. The View Assignments data in PWA matches what I see when I
open the projects in Project Professional and look at Resource Usage. Where
is PWA View Availability getting the data from? Is it from a different
database? The projects have been published. Thanks!

Can you describe an example of the difference?
Do you use Timesheets?
In View Availability, is Proposed Bookings checked in the view options?

Reid,

We do not use timesheets. All progress on the schedules is updated by the
project manager in Project Professional. Proposed Bookings is not checked.
If I check it, it does not change the information displayed in View
Availability. I am using one resource to troubleshoot the issue. I have the
date range set to 9/1 - 9/30. The resource is on several projects. For one
of the projects, he has a single task set to be performed 9/21 - 9/29. In
VIew availability it shows that he has zero hours for that project. In
another project, I do not have any scheduled tasks for him from 9/1 - 9/30,
but View availability shows 20 hrs.

Does View Availability get it's data from the same database View Assignments
uses?

Thanks for your help!

Some (all?) of the data in View Availability comes from the Reporting
database. I think I would look at the queue, and then the event logs, to see
if there are any anomalies.

I'd like to invite the other experts to weigh in on this.

Oh, and what SP / CU levels are you on?

I have seen a number of problems with the queue causing this type of problem.
You must check to see that all project publishes job are sucessful.
Sometimes this requires looking a the ULS logs as well to try and solve why a
publish fails.

Hope this helps
