Resource View Hours and Percent Allocation

I am trying to build a custom resource usage view where I have a master
project with inserted projects. The project managers for those projects
maintain the inseretd projects.

I am trying to build a custom resource view to look at all the enterprise
resources across all the projects and then to be able to look at each
resource and to look at their hours and percent allocation across each
project as well as within each project.

I need the ability to expand and collapse each project listed under each
resource to see the specific tasks that the individual is assigned for that
project. I want to see the hours and percent allocation for each of the task
as I expand or collapse the project.

So I want to dynamically take my master plan and look at the resources, the
projects that the resources are assigned to, their hours and percentage
allocation across each project and drill down to the task level for each
project for each resource and then to drill up as required to higher levels.

Thanks for you help.

If you are using Project Server, then the "View Resource Availability" view
on the Resource tab may be what you are looking for.

This works for a single project. But I cannot get it to work for mutltiple
projects where you have a master project with many inserted projects with the
some resources used across various projects..

I think Ed was referring to a Project Web Access view in Project Server, and
you're thinking about the Resource Usage view in Project. Here's the deal
with the resource usage view: In order to see all tasks in all projects, you
must expand all the projects in the Master Project. You need to flip back
and forth between task and resource views to get what you want.

Try this:

Open your Master Project with all the projects collapsed.
Then, click Window > Split or the split window view button
Right click on the Task Form display in the bottom half of the screen
Select the Resource usage view from the popup menu

Now select and expand a project in the Gantt Chart display in the top half
and watch the results in the bottom half. Does this work for you?

If so, ask your followup question in microsoft.public.project or
microsoft.public.project.server as this is not a developer question at this
point.

Sorry I need something slightly different for IS management. I have not
explained my requirement well. I have tried to create a custom view and it
almsot works. But gets somewhat confused when I expand and/or collapse. Can
I email you my view and master project with inserted projects with an
explanation so you can see what it is not doing?
