Resource vs User in PS 2007

Hello,
I created a new resource in the Checked-out Enterprise Resource Pool and
saved it.
The new resource does appear in the Resource Center of PWA, but it does not
appear in the Manage Users page of PWA. So when we create a new resource, do
we have to create its Windows user account?
Thanks

Hello Robert,

Yes you will need to create a user account for a user.

Let me explain the diferrence between a resource and a user. A resource can
be any thing that is needed to complete a task, Project 2007 allows 3 types
of resources namely: man, material and cost. So a resource could be say a
server for the task Setting up project server 2007.
A user is always a person who needs to do something on the system, like a
team member who needs to update the status of a task or an executive who
needs to see Project Center.

The easier way to create a user who can also be assigned as a resource is to
open PWA>Server Settings> Add user. Fill out the user details and make sure
the "Add as a Resource"(I don't remember the exact phrase) check box is
checked, this box is checked by default. This way you will be adding the
user and adding him/her to the resource pool in one go.

Hope that helps

Dave
