Resources hours get recorded multiple times

Here is what happens - As per our company policy, resources fill up
their timesheet everyday evening and I do approve them next day
morning.

Means my resource enters hours for the Monday, and I approve them on
Tuesday. When they enter Tuesdays hours and I approve them, I see
Monday's hours in black and Tuesday's hours in red.

However, after approval and I go back and look at the View history of
past task changes under updates it looks like Monday was recorded
twice. Not only this, but the total no. of hours for perticular
date/day also get multiplied. We have not yet build an OLAP cube.

Why is this happening? What are the options to avoide this? As i've
mentioned, we have to approve the task everyday. Also let me know if
we can control / clear this additional entries from backend.

Thanks and regards

In spite of what you are seeing on the View History of Past Task Changes
page, the data pushed to your Microsoft Project plan will be correct, and
all other data in Project Server will be correct as well, including OLAP
cube data when you finally build the cube. When you process task updates
every day, at the end of a week you will see five entries for each resource
for each each day of the week on the View History of Past Task Changes page.
And for each entry, you will see the hours entered every day, up to the
current date.

It is just one of those goofy things in Project Server and I would strongly
recommend that you don't stress about it. In fact, I would would recommend
you spend as little time on this page as possible, and spend more time
studying the current state of our Microsoft Project plan instead! :)

Hope this helps.
