Resources overallocated

My project is effort driven and correctly allocated to all resources. Recently, I updated the Actual Work and set the project to automatically reschedule as of this Monday. Today, I reduced the work from 200 hours to 20 on a particular task and all of a sudden 8 resources in other tasks show as they are overallocated. Assuming that this is correct, what is the quickest way to resolve this problem.. Resource leveling does not seem to be working either.

Maybe a little further explanation will help. The project was not overallocated and is effort driven. I updated actuals, and rescheduled and resources were still not overallocated. I adjusted the work hours on one task and suddenly resouces who are part of that task became overallocated

Are there any guidelines how to correct the resource overallocation?

Hi,

Not just guidelines, but a function of the product called Resource Leveling.
Tools, Resource Leveling.
Read help on the different options.
