Respectfully: Why do certain posts go without response?

RESPECTFULLY:
I have posted before (under a different AKA) and it seems sometimes my posts
go for days without any response. Is there any rhyme or reason or order in
which post are responded to. This is a sincere request, so no nasty remarks
please.

Most of the time, the people who respond to questions here are volunteers.
We have lives like you do, families and other interests, too. We do it
because we like the product, may have information that is helpful, and like
to see others enjoy computing like we do.

Hi JB,

I hope that routinely we avoid nasty remarks. :)

All the MVPs and the other non-Microsoft people who respond are, as
Chris says, volunteers. We are not Microsoft staff. We are not paid to
do this.

We all have lives outside newsgroups. Sometimes we don't get to the
group for days or weeks (It's only recently I have had time to start
posting/answering again). Sometimes we may have only 10 minutes to pop
in. The easy questions tend to get answered quickly if that's the
case. Then real life takes over again.

Last weekend I went back through several days of posts and looked
specifically for posts that hadn't had an answer. Again, I had limited
time. And answered as many as I could in that time.

Sometimes we assume that a question is in another person's expertise.
You asked recently about IE2Onenote.exe (or something like that). I
assumed it was a powertoy, which "isn't me". So, specific to that
post, I read it but assumed that somebody else would be better placed
to reply to you.

Sometimes posts go missing. Not often. But it does happen.

If you have unanswered posts then please feel free to repost the
question(s or point us to the original(s). If I/we don't know we can
say so. It happens ... we like to think that it is very rare. <grin/>

I hope that helps.

JB,
I am sorry that some of your posts were missed. I try and get to the OneNote
posts as often as I get to the PPT ones. However, I was out of the office
the first half of the month and spent the second half catching up. OneNote
posting fell down towards the bottom of the list of to-dos (paid stuff came
first :) )

As Chris and Andrew said, we all try to get in and answer questions when we
can, but we are volunteers. It just happened that we all were out of pocket
at the same time last month.

if we live without making a difference, it makes no difference that we lived

No offence taken.

These are volunteer forums and sometimes people only have a certain amount
of time to answer questions. "Do I answer these four questions with quick
answers or this one question that requires a mroe in depth response?"
