restart list numbers

I am using a table that has numbered lists in each cell (sometimes
hierarchical, sometimes not). I have the page set up how I want it, but when
I copy and paste the page to duplicate it, Word ever so helpfully continues
the numbering from the previous page. As many people have said, this is only
helpful when that's what you want to happen. I have been researching this,
and have been to:
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Numbering/WordsNumberingExplained.htm
but I really don't understand it. I would love a simple fix if there is
one, or someone who could explain some of the info provided there and how it
applies to what I'm trying to do.

Here's an example of what might be in a cell:

Fri, 9/5
Starter: a. Get out pen(cil), highlighter
b. Open notebooks to page 3
1. Pass out Source Books
~ Name & Period in books
2. Response Strategies Bubble Maps (p. 2)
3. Notes (p. 3)

A simple fix? My suggestion would be to use SEQ fields to provide the
numbering, with the first SEQ field in the table resetting the number to 1
eg

{ SEQ Table1 \r1 } List Item 1

the rest of the numbers in the table are inserted without the switch thus

{ SEQ Table1 } List Item 2
{ SEQ Table1 } List Item 3

You can then copy and paste the table/list to another location and the
lists will remain

1 List Item 1
2 List Item 2
3 List Item 3

1 List Item 1
2 List Item 2
3 List Item 3

1 List Item 1
2 List Item 2
3 List Item 3

etc even when the fields are updated.

Note that SEQ fields do not automatically update. You can either select the
lot CTRL+A then F9, switch to print preview and back or use a macro -
http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm to update the fields.
