Restarting alphabetical lists question

Regina

In using Word 2002, on a Windows 98 system, I'm having
great success restarting numbered lists using Margaret
Aldis' suggestion of inserting the following field code:
{LISTNUM \l 1 \s 0} but now need to do the same for
restarting lists alphabetically a, b, c, etc. Of course
the Restart Numbering feature is not working which is why
I am inserting the above field for restarting numbered
lists but I need advice on how to have the field appear
for alphabetically - I tried to replace the 1 with an a
but no luck.
Thanks in advance,
Regina

Hi Regina

Glad the suggestion works for you. You should find exactly the same field
will work for a, b, c numbering. The \l flag is the list level (so 1 is the
top level of a multi-level list - omit for a single level list) and \s is
the starting number - it's always numeric (so 0 works to reset the numbering
for a, b, c too). Remember to place the field at the *end* of each list,
because an unnamed LISTNUM works on the numbering sequence last encountered.
