Restore from backup -- Office fails to run

All,

I've restored my backup files to a new hard drive after
performing the manufacture's OS system restore - Windows
ME.

Office 2000 refuses to run and generates an error message
everytime the systems is started. Here's the message.
Office (In title bar of window)

This application must be installed to run. Please run
Setup from the location where you originally installed
the application.

When I insert the original Office 2000 CD, it starts the
installer, but another error message appears. Here's that
message.
The patch package could not be opened. Contact the
application vendor to verify that this is a vaild Windows
Installer patch package.

I have installed SR-1, but I don't think I've applied SP-
2.

Does anyone have any ideas? I would prefer not to have to
uninstall and reinstall the software.
