Restore Mail Merge document to Word document

I merged a document using data from access. I would like to remove the associated data source from my document. When I go to Tool, Mail Merge, Main Document, Create, the Restore to Normal Word Document is not available. Why is this happening? Note: when merging, a parameter query is activated, then merged.

Which version of Word are we dealing with?

When you try to "Restore to a Normal Word document" is the Access data source
still open? Or have you closed the Access window? (Note: I'm assuming a
default DDE connection. If you've explicitly chosen ODBC, please say.)
