Restore prev categories after re-install of O2007 - Advice not wor

Sue, you recently answered a question about restoration of previous
categories: Can you help further?
If you click Categorize | All Categories, do you see them? No.

If not, try this: First, make a backup of your .pst file. In the navigation pane, >right-click the top of the information store that holds these items and choose >Properties. You should see a button to Upgrade to Color Categoriies.

I interpreted your words to mean that at the top of my far-left pane that
allows choice of Calendar, Contacts, Memos, etc. I right-click in the bar
next to the name of the open data set, e.g. "Contacts". This usually brings
up a tabbed set of dialogs. None of them have the button you seem to
describe. Sometimes upon right-clicking no set of dialogs shows up.

When I do this I don't see a button on any of several tabbed customization
screens,

I use Outlook 2007 and the data used to show these other (non-default)
categories in the category assignment box, but I reformatted the laptop and
had to re-install Outlook and its .pst file.

I must say that the lack of guidance in the "Help" file is maddening,
especially since the [on-line] info comes from a changeable source, so that
as people ask question they can add to the info there.

If you have any thoughts, anyone, I'd appreciate the help from another user
or MVP.

Sorry, that's not what I meant. Look at the list of folders in the navigation pane, either in the Mail module or in the Folder List module. Right-click the top-level folder, and proceed from there.

Thanks, Sue. What an odd place to put this process starter, and again, why
not document it? Aaaargh.
