Restored Project Server 2003 - No WSS sites associated

Mick

All,

Just got finished the final steps (or at least I thought were the final
steps) in restoring a Project Server 2003 to a physically new server.

Everything looks great in PWA and Project Pro...except for the WSS portion.
There are no WSS sites associated with my projects? When I look under
"Manage Sharepoint sites", there are no sites under site address column with
the exception of the Public Documents.

Any idea of how I can easily "RE-associate" the sites on the new server with
the existing projects. BTW - The restored WSS sites work fine on the new
server...but they have simply lost the association with the projects?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

NOTE: Anyone who reads this message who has a production MS Project 2003
Server and an MSDN subscription, please take my advice: Aquire a PC with a
decent amount of disk space, a perform a test restore of your MS Project 2K3
Server enviornment...documenting every step....and make sure it is included
in your organizations Disaster Recovery Plan. Best of all....you can use the
restored server for testing.

Faisal,

Thanks for the quick response. Is this the only way to achieve the desired
results?
Did I miss a step somewhere? This is critical that I know this...as I am
creating a comprehensive Restore Manual for all users of MS Project Server.
The ones issued by MS leave a lot to be desired.

Thanks again.

In addition...the reason I asked the previous question is that all of the sites are available and working on my new server. In other words...I can open the migrated WSS sites by using thier URL. Ex- http://<new server's name/sites/projectserver_107. They are just not "linked" or "associated" with my restored projects within PWA.

Your suggestion sounds like I have to backup the WSS sites separately?

Faisal,

Found a Work-A-ROUND! This is what I ended up doing....

Within the ADMIN \ Manage Windows Sharepoint Services \ Manage Sharepoint Sites \

I simply highlighted an individual Project ID, and clicked "Create Site" It automatically linked me to the restored site.

Worked for me.

Thanks again for your repsonse.

You don't have to backup sites individualy.
Have you tried 'Edit Site Address' & then Synchronize under PWA > Admin >
Manage Windows SharePoint Services > Manage SharePoint sites?

Better look at this article. It will give you a better idea.

How to move the databases that are used by Windows SharePoint Services and
by Project Server 2003 to a computer that is running SQL Server

NA...you don't have to do that.

Just hilight each individual project and click create site...in seconds they
are re-associated....thanks again.
