OK, let’s start with the obvious – I AM A TOTAL IDIOT!
Now that THAT is clearly established, let’s see if any kind person can help
solve my issue with restoring an empty, default .NK2 file in Outlook 2007.
I failed to read (later found) the valuable information in this Forum about
how to delete unwanted or incorrect email addresses from the Auto-suggest /
Auto-fill list.
I THOUGHT it was just a matter of opening the file and editing the unwanted
data out.
So, I found the .NK2 file, opened it with Wordpad, edited the unwanted data
out and closed the file.
VOILA! Auto fill/Autosuggest worked OK – EXCEPT ALL addresses had been
wiped. Not exactly what I wanted or expected!
No problems – it was time for a clean out anyway.
However, NOW my .NK2 file icon has changed (not looking like the Outlook
2007 default) – I THINK (yes I know that’s a dangerous pastime in my case)
it’s the Wordpad icon.
So, how do I restore the default – albeit empty - .NK2 file?
I’m thinking (yes I NEVER learn quickly) that I could just delete the edited
..NK2 file and that Outlook would create a new one but this is probably not
correct so I’ll wait for an informed and knowledgeable answer from this forum.
Thanks.
