Restoring BCM

I have copies of the .mdf and .idf files. I had to completely re-install my
office 2007 programs and of course lost access to my BCM which I rely on
daily. I was on the phone for 2 hours with a Microsoft tech and he could not
help me restore the BCM. He basically had me create a new database and then
copy the old database into the folder, rename it, etc. It did not work.
When I try the wizard to just select the old files, it puts in a file name
for me. It does not know allow me to select the file name. Any help would
be appreciated. I am not very technical but willing to try and very
desparate.

Thanks.

The wizard doesn't select files, instead it shows database attached to
BCM's Sql Server instance.

BCM 2007 added a feature that automatically scans the folder for files
and attaches unattached databases. However, Sql can only attach
databases if it has permission to do so, and several people have run
into permission problems, with similar symptoms to yours.

So I would try to manually attach the file to Sql, and hopefully, if
it doesn't just work, you'll get an error message indicating what the
problem is.

You can search this newsgroup for how to attach databases to sql. A
couple different methods have been described.

I am not finding a thread for attaching the DB to SQL. Again, I am not
technical so need basic guidance. I am running XP. I found a thread on
executing commands on Vista but did not know if that would work for XP.
Thanks for any help
