Restoring files from autoarchived IPD format

I have Outlook 2000. I had the autoarchive set at 6 weeks but now I need to
retrieve appointments older than that. Outlook has autoarchived files as
AutoBackup in IPD format. I have not been able to open these files or import
them back into Outlook. When I try to open them, Outlook opens a blank
e-mail message with the AutoBackup file as an attachment (which I cannot
open). When I follow the Help instructions, it seems that I can only import
from a PST file. I can find no mention anywhere in the Help section on
opening or restoring IPD files.

How do I get these autoarchived appointments in IPD format back into my
calendar or at least open them to refer to them?

Thank you!

I would suggest you need to use the software that is creating these backups,
to open them.

Thanks! The backups are actually created through autoarchiving by Outlook
2000. I don't have any other backup program. Outlook saves them in My
Documents with the Outlook Icon under the name AutoBackup (date) and the
extension IPD File. All the Outlook Help instructions would seem to indicate
that the file extension should be PST, but that is not the case.

Thanks for your help! I got confused because of the Outlook Icon next to the
backup.
