Restoring Inbox.dbx from a backup.

Hober Mallow

Hello Everyone,

My wife's computer (running WIndows ME and Outlook Express) was on it lips
and needed to be rebuilt. Prior to reformatting the hard drive, I was able
to back up a number of items, including the Outlook Express mail folders,
*.dbx files, including the Inbox.dbx.

I reloaded these on the rebuilt computer and then changed the default
message store to the restored directory.

All of the Outlook Express folders were available except for Inbox.dbx. A
new Inbox(1).dbx folder had been created and was in use.

I would dearly love to restore that original Inbox.dbx. I've tried
renaming it, copying it to another folder, etc., etc., all to no avail.

Obviously, if I had copied the messages in Inbox.dbx to another folder
before that final backup on the old computer, I'd be in great shape now.

Any comments? Suggestions?

Thanks.

Try posting this in an Outlook Express news group - this is not one of them.
Outlook is a part of Microsoft Office and is what this group supports.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and has its own news groups.
