Restoring OneNote Files

M

It is difficult to find an answer, but after installing Office Professional
2003 SP2, I lost all of my OneNote files. I simply used the Windows Backup
utility AFTER doing a search *.one and found them. So I located them but
couldn't see them so I backed them up in the Windows utility on an External
Drive connected to the computer. Now, as bad as I need those OneNote files, I
go to the backup to RESTORE THE FILES, but when I want to restore, the
CHECKMARK BOX is greyed out and I cannot click on it to restore the specific
files I need BACK INTO my OneNote. Why is this and can anyone please help me?
This is urgent, and thank you. Can't understand why the box in the Windows
Backup file (utility) is "greyed" out. I'm stuck. Please help, and thank
you....

Just to be clear - you can or cannot see the .ONE files when you simply do a
search on your hard drive?

No, because of the Office Professional 2003 SP@ mishap, I had to completely
redo my system but the backup file is on my external drive. So I reinstalled
OneNote fresh and wish to bring back in (through that backup file) all of my
older onenote files. In other words, there's nothing in my newly installed
OneNote files. They are all in the backup on the external drive, that to
which I can't open up at all...Unbelievable. See my post I believe on Oct. 21
if it still exists...
Please help! :)

Have you tried restoring all the files and directories from your backup
for the directory called 'My Notebook' under 'My Documents'? That is
where all your OneNote files are to exist.

If you could sir, please see my first post as the backup file is greyed out
completely. Otherwise I could easily do what you just asked. Please advise..
thank you! :)
