restoring pst files

I have Outlook 2007. I did a search and found all the .pst files but was
unable to open them with Outlook 2007. What is the procedure for doing this?
I recently had a crash and some of the files were included in the restore,
but some of my personal folders for the INBOX were not. Can someone give me
step-by-step instructions to restore all the folders that are missing?
Thanks.

All data is contained within the *.pst file(s) by default named outlook.pst,
a new data file would be named outlook1.pst and so on (NB you can have named
them otherwise if you selected that option)
The archive data file is named archive.pst, by default
Within Outlook, File>Open>Data File.....browse to and open the pst

I'm not sure what you mean by "some of my personal folders for the INBOX"
The set of Personal folders contains the Inbox, Sent, Outbox etc together
with folders you may have created.

Depends also what you mean by restore, if you mean a system restore point,
then that wouldnt touch data files.

What are the names & sizes of the pst files you have found?

Are you using the procedure File/Open/Outlook data file? You can do this
for multiple .pst files. For a little more detail:

Thanks for your response. When I receive emails, I create individual folders
for each so that I can retrieve info if needed. I did a restore from my
external drive. There was no restore point on the computer after the crash.
The file is OUTLOOK BACKUP 585 MB.

It makes little sence to create seperate folders for each email, creating
folders for a project, or individual sender then yes.
Unless you delete mail it is retained anyway.
Outlook.backup.pst sounds like a backup created by the MS Outlook backup
addin.
Within outlook, simply open this pst
