Restoring Saved Data Files

B

Bill

Prior to upgrading from Windows 98 to Windows XP, I saved
Excel and Word data files to CD. After upgrade, I could
restore data files back to XP. Am getting message:
'File cannot be accessed. The file may be read-only, or
you may be trying to access a read-only location. Or,
the server the document is stored on may not be
responding.' Tried Dos Copy command as well as XP
commands. Same result. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

When I save to a CD, the file is marked readonly.

When I copy it back to the harddrive, that attribute comes with it.

If I right click on the file in windows explorer, I can select properties and
uncheck the "readonly" attribute.

Maybe it'll help for you.
