*Restrict Future dates From being entered

What's the easiest way to restrict the user from entering a future date in a
date field?

I know I could create a separate field that holds Today(), then run a
boolean check on the date field and restrict, but that seems so complex.
There has to be a better way, and I am just ignorant of it!
