Restricted access to Project Server...

Hi all...

We are currently in the process of setting up a Project
Office, and also uploading sevreal projects to the MS
Project Server.

My issue is that while we are 'setting things up', I'd
like to give the Project Managers restricted/ie 'read
only' access to the project schedules that now reside on
the project server.

It is intended that this will be a temporary fix, until we
actually 'Go Live' with all projects on the server and
fully accessible by all Project Managers, etc, etc....

My question is ~ How can I provide 'Read Only' access to a
Project Manager so that he/she can 'access/open/view/save
as' the file...but doesn't make any changes to the actual
file on the project server?

Currently we've just made an 'off-server' copy of the file
for him/her to use..but I dont see this as being the
best/only solution.

Many thanks for any assistance..

Do the following:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions
2. Click the Admin menu
3. Click the Manage users and groups link
4. Click the Groups link in the sidepane on the left
5. Select the Project Managers group and click the Modify Group button
6. In the Categories section, select the My Projects category
7. In the Permissions grid of the Categories section, deselect Allow for
the Save Project permission (neither Allow or Deny is selected)

If you wish for the project managers to be able to open all projects in the
database Read-Only, then complete these two additional steps:

8. In the Categories section, select the My Organization category
9. In the Permissions grid of the Categories section, select Allow for the
Open Project permission

Once you have completed the above steps, click the Save Changes button.
Hope this helps.
